The Week in Review
This was a week that rewarded early risers and anyone willing to walk. The daily guides leaned hard on morning pastries, cliff-top trails, and long dinners by the water. Coffee came first, then the Cove, then a slow build toward sunset. The rhythm was consistent: start warm, walk far, end well fed.
What the Week Looked Like
Monday opened with coffee and cliffs, closing with a proper dinner. Tuesday added a bookstore maze and sunset at the Cove. Wednesday repeated the breakfast pastry and cliff walk formula, this time ending with a waterfront dinner. Thursday swapped the Cove for Torrey Pines at sunset. Friday and Saturday both emphasized beating the crowds with early bluff walks and long afternoons by the water. Sunday circled back to coffee, the Cove, and a long dinner to close the week.
Breakfast pastries appeared in five of seven guides
The Cove showed up four times, Torrey Pines twice
Sunset dinners anchored Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday
Books and browsing made appearances on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
This Week's Poll: Which La Jolla Food Spot Would You Recommend First?
No human votes came in this week, so we are left with the question hanging. The poll asked locals and visitors to name the one La Jolla food spot they would recommend first. Without votes to tally, the answer remains open. You can still weigh in and see how the results shift at the poll results page.
One Thing to Do This Week
Go to Wayfarer Bread & Pastry early, before the croissants sell out. The thin, shatteringly crisp layers and the smell of browned butter make it worth the detour. Grab a pastry, walk it down to Kellogg Park, and eat it within sight of the surf. The combination of salt air and good butter is unbeatable, and it sets the tone for whatever comes next.
